I know this might be a bit of rubbing it in your face thread to all you BKP metalheads, but hopefully you'll cheer on my behalf :D
As the title says I'm going to see Mastodon on Tuesday, but I don't really know much of the bands music. What can I expect? Are they any good live?
Hopefully it'll be a kick arse show and a good night together with one of my mates and maybe just a few beers :D

i've seen them once, supporting Matallica. they played great, and the crowd was into them. zero interaction though, they didn't say one word to the audience! very good show though, you should enjoy it :)

I've seen them once (Wolverhampton) and the sound was one big mush; I blame the sound engineer from the venue, most bands that evening sounded horrible. Hopefully you'll fare better at your concert.

Great band, but I've never seen them live. I suspect it might be a bit much for my sensitive disposition.

Matallica? Didn't know James Hetfield had started a chain of clothes stores aimed at the budget market

When I saw them they walked on, started playing, segued most of the songs into each other, said 'Thanks, bye!' and walked off. It was awesome.
I like them a lot less now though, this was just after leviathan.
Now, I suppose expect less grind, more prog, similar verbosity.

I've seen them 8 or 9 times I think. Extremely hit and miss. A few times they were great, the others they were abysmal. Never have I seen them and they've been somewhere in the middle :lol:
Hopefully you catch them on a night when they can be arsed.

Yeah. Red Fang is suppurting. I have never heard of them though so don't know what to ecpect here :D

I should be going to see them in Feb but I'm working til 6 so I'm going to miss the supports Red Fang and Dillinger Escape Plan :( Not much a fan of Mastodon either but my mates are going so thought I might as well. I always feel like Mastodon make good background music.

Great show Mastodon put on last night! They didn't say one thing until the show was over, but just threw metal goodnesses in one stream at the audience which had a thoroughly good time and it seemed like Mastodan had as well.
Sadly I missed Red Fang as me and my buddy and a lot of his buddies had some catching up to do and some beers to drink.
