Hey All,
I picked up a crate Stealth GT50 combo in mint condition for cheap. I love the hi-gain sounds on these one trick pony amps.
The highs are a little too much for me though. I have to put the treble at 2 or its over powering.
I tried the original crate speaker and a mesa black shadow. The mesa was a little better but was wondering if anyone had a recommendation to what might work best.
Its an open-back combo.
I'm using my warpig for it.
Looking for something that punches you in the gut while not being overly trebly.
Maybe, I'll just get a 2x12 closed back and hack the stealth from a combo to a head only... PDT_045
thanks

i got an eminence texas heat recently and it sounds pretty good, and definitely is on the warmer/deeper side of things tonally (has a nice sweet treble, too). i haven't tried your amp, though, so i have no idea what it'd be like with it.

cool, after some searching..i might pickup a Scumback H55
has a 55hz bass response so it should beef up the open back cab a little. Its described in the dark range, so it should help the extreme high end on this amp.
anyone familiar??

never tried a scumback but have heard good things
aren't they made by weber? (haven't tried them either  )

Hi Chris,
Try a ceramic Tone Tubby or a ceramic Weber Silver Bell. I am really knocked out by the sound of the Tone Tubby (I have an Alnico one too, but the ceramic is a better rock speaker). I have a couple of Scumbacks but they are the LDC models. I really prefer the sound of the Tone Tubby to the Scumback.
