Title: String spacing on an SE CU24??
Post by: addisj on January 19, 2012, 02:00:57 PM
I have decided to buy some bare knuckles for my SE CU24, I am just having a hard time
trying to find out what spacing to get the pickups in?

Some people say as it has a trem it is 52.5mm which is the same as Fender spacing.

Others say PRS always use 50mm spacing - same as Gibson.

*confused* please help

If you have a trem you have F-spacing (or at least close enough)

Thanks for the reply, can I get any more thumbs up for F spacing?  I just need that vote of confidence before spending my hard earned!

thanks

Well, I ordered with F-spacing to my CU 24 SE and it works great :)

It's just the bridge pup that needs f-spacing.

I got an alnico nailbomb in the bridge position and a cold sweat for the neck. I like them alot for crunch and high gain stuff. They are ok (not my favorite) for cleans, but sound very nice coil tapped.

sweet bet they sound lovely.  Big improvement on the standard SE set?
Im thinking Rebel Yell's in both positions, will split them too.

What pots did you go for?  I dont have a clue which ones to get.

I actually like the stock ones quite much. Especially clean, they had that great clean "PRS" sound, it's hard to describe it.

For high gain I'm very satisfied with the bridge pup. Tight but still dynamic. I do play in Open C tuning and with high gain, and these pups handle it brilliantly.

For what I can tell, it-s not really what you are after, but let us  know what you get and how it works out!

I ordered CTS-pots together with the pups from BK. Both push pull, one for coil tap, and one for phase change.

Just take out the ruler and measure behind the bridge from center 1st string to center 6th string and you got the string spacing you should order.
