Title: Well That's Different?
Post by: Rob Stobbs on May 08, 2005, 03:03:12 PM
Hi Tim and Everybody Else,
Quite an interesting experiment really, as you know, I have put Mules in my 70 LP Custom and am Delighted with the results. Amongst "other" Guitars that are around here I also have an RI 58 LP. The Neck Pickup has always been Beautiful, but The Bridge Unit was a Tad Brittle too my ears at anyrate? It had its Mules installed yesterday and I am bowled over!! At last it does just what I had hoped for and expected.
However......A/B the two Mule Powered Guitars and it is very pleasing to be able to report that their individuality still remains. Obviously I would expect a Custom to sound different to a Standard, but the difference really is quite staggering...(No Pun Intended  ) I am so pleased with how these two have turned out, A HUGE Thank You to Tim.
Now......I wonder how the Double Cut LP Junior would sound with Tim's take on a 58 P90..Hmmmmmmmm....Food for thought? We wont even mention the 64 Firebird 111

I know that every guitar I buy will be retrofitted with Bare Knuckles...

Everyone who played through these pickups on the Saturday sounded so good, I am really impressed with the power of their single coils.

The only improvment I think the company can make is that all the pickups need the BKP logo on in some form, even if it rips of EMG's logo.

Andy!

Tim makes the best sounding P-90's I ever heard.  One of the guitars at the show was a PRS fitted with a Crawler in the bridge and 2 P-90's, in an HSS set.  Everyone who tried it liked the sound of the P-90's.  These were underwound for the middle and neck position, but got a great sound.

I am getting a set for my 1960 double cutaway.  Tim makes a calibrated set that I am getting, this has  a little hotter bridge pickup.

Think of the difference in the humbuckers and then you will know the difference in the P-90's too!

Point Taken :D
And to think that this all started with a Set of Irish Tours for a "Rory" Replica! 8)

Trouble is..........I do have quite a few Guitars! BUT....I could certainly see them all becoming Bare Knuckle Powered eventually

Hope that BK had a Great Show, look forward to hearing all about it before long.

Hi Rob,
I have the same problem.  I currently have 7 guitars with BK pickups and I have a set of Miracle Man's (Men?) to fit to a PRS clone, and Tim is working on 2 new sets for me!  All this would be great if I didn't have at least 5 more guitars that I want to fit pickups on :)
Cheers
Phil

:D Tell You What though Phil?
I'm damn glad that my Gibson Twin Neck and I have finally parted company!!

So..........am I to be one of the first to start thinking about a Heart Transplant for a Firebird, or has this been covered elsewhere? I do seem to remember Tim mentioning Firebirds somewhere, but can't recall quite where! Must be an "Age" Issue.......Yeah and I got that one in before You did Ron

I like my Firebird just the way it is... 100% stock.... 100% Johnny Winter...

(but I am open to persuasion?) :D

God help me if I have to fit BK's to this lot...... I'll be in the bloody poor-house......
