Apologies if this has already been covered on numerous occasions.
I have been GASing for an esquire for some time, but couldn't justify parting with masses of cash, however a couple of days ago I scored a MIM tele off evilbay for a pretty good price with the intention of rewiring.
However the only thing I've ever rewired is a plug - so any advice and diagrams would be appreciated.

the Seymour Duncan website has every wiring diagram you could ever want, check 'em out dude.
-
Cheers, i'll check it out! :D

Here you go:

Twinfan here on the BKP forum has a nice Custom Shop Esquire. There was quite a bit of discussion about different ways to wire an Esquire with different capacitor values etc. Might be worth a search.

There are a few flavours of Esquire wiring. TDPRI has a lot of them, though their Esquire Wiring page seems to 404 now. Worth searching in their forums for Esquire wiring tips. For example: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-technical/297711-esquire-wiring-standard-vs-simple.html (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-technical/297711-esquire-wiring-standard-vs-simple.html). Good luck!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, the Tele should be arriving today and then the experimentation can begin.

I prefer the Eldred wiring scheme.
Though the 'neck' position on all Esquires is useless to me, I turned that into a mute.

That's the name I couldn't remember! Thanks. :)

Our very own Twinfan posted this one to a telecaster board. I used this one on the Telemaster (with different values):

Twinfan's has a 0.033uf between switch and volume pot.

I love the C**ked wah sound with the right cap in the 1st position.

Sounds bloody brilliant.

This looks really neat!
Seeing as I've fallen completely in love with the Piledriver, I might have to try this at some point.

Slightly off topic, but since it's an Esquire thread...
.... what would be a good pickup choice for an Equire? I'm thinking something relatively hot, like a BG50?

I am actually putting together (or intending to put together.....) a '72 style Thinline with a pair of TV Classics.
But this will be another one. I'm thinking either standard Tele pickups with a 4-way.... or an Esquire.

The BG50 really is a peach of a pup.

Goddammit, I forgot you were following this thread! :x
I WILL complete at least three Warmoth/Fender/MJT projects in the next few months, I swear. I have almost all the parts ready to go (.....apart from scratchplates and some pickups.... )

Thanks for the replies and wiring diagrams. Had a bit of a set back, a couple of the machine heads were badly damaged in transit and the bridge is a bit knackered, so i'm waiting on some replacement parts grrr.. patience is not one of my virtues :P
