Title: i ordered 50mm and my bridge spacing is 52.5...will it work?
Post by: mniel8195 on January 27, 2012, 06:43:45 AM
hey guys im figuring out more as i go.  I had no idea the string spacing on my esp eclipse is 52.5 and the bridge pickup i ordered is 50mm. for some reason i just figured it was 50.  Should i return the pickup and get a 53 or does it make a huge difference in tone and interaction with the string?

You'll be fine.  Only swap it if it bothers you.

Just take your time and don't do it on Friday if you need it for the gig on Saturday.

Cheers Stephan

It won't make any difference in the sound that you'd be able to notice. It's just mostly cosmetic as other users have pointed out :)

Should be ok.  My PRS SE has 52mm spacing on the bridge pup and the 50mm Mule looks just fine.  Strings will most likely still pass over the pole pieces - maybe just on the edges.  Cosmetic only.

you can also sand the saddles to align strings with the pickup
I do that in some of my les pauls
and that's what gibson does... the strings aren't in the exact middle of the saddles, but they align with the stock pickups
