well I'm back from my crazy adventures. Shows were hit & miss but I got to meet some new folks and that's always good.
Played in a crazy squat in Poland that was kind of attacked by Nazi's graffiti vandals in the night. That's a new one.
Got a list of places to go back to when it isn't some CRAZY temperature and I have to sleep in a van in -20degrees or whatever!
-
First lot are all from a squat in Poland where we played and slept. We only did one show in Poland but it was AWESOME. Best people and best food. Some bad guys turned up at 5am but all they did was spray paint celtic crosses on the some boards at the entrance to the road leading to the buildings. Nazi's up to no good. It was lower than -20 overnight.
you can see some of the building that were all in use, though not the venue, and you can see the sleeping quarters which was heated by a coal burning stove.

These are all in Sweden and one on the ferry from Denmark to Germany I think? The city is Goteborg, and the frozen village and forest are both at this ruin between Stockholm and Lund.
The ferry was amusing until someone in our group decided to start throwing objects into the sea, which escalated into attempting to throw a fire extinguishers overboard, but he actually just set it off in his own face and after choking on the powder decided to go inside where he was gripped by security, but after claiming it was just a dare that got out of hand, the security guy apologized for spoiling his fun and just walked them back to us mutter "this is crazy, these crazy guys" in a Danish accent.

Thanks for the pics. They bring back some great memories !
It makes me happy that you enjoyed 'the tour' !
Reminds me big time, of my Gothenburg 'blues tour' in the late seventies. 8)
Even then beer was £4 a pint (thats 30 years ago !), and don't even ask about spirits,
BUT most houses in the countryside had ther own 'still' ! :D
bless...

luckily the locals provided food for us. I survived on a diet of gas station nuts and random fizzy pop though.
The Swedes told us to stock up on food before going to Norway. They said that's what they all do when they go to visit. As it happened I didn't spend any money in Norway, and I'm glad!

What's the name of the band?
-
Abolition

May I be so curious to ask what venues you're playing? :D Might be you're coming by some I've played at.
-
Oh, never mind. Looked it up on Facebook :P
I've played at Hemgården in Lund before. Nice place!
-
yeah that place was cool. pretty tall stage for such a small room. nice setup though! with the little cinema and everything! In my last band I played a similar kind of place in Goteborg. Nothing like that exists in the UK s far as I know
-
I haven't played many places in sweden, actually. My band had a 5-day tour of Sweden before I joined, though.
But yeah, Hemgårdan is a nice place!
It's a bit of a break from things to play in a place where alcohol isn't allowed, but that's not really a problem for me at all. I actually prefer going on stage sober most of the time, so I'm perfectly cool with chugging sodas before the show! Our singer, on the other hand...

im in a straightedge band, so beer availability isn't an issue. I don't really care what people choose to do mind, but that venue I played in goteborg was supported by a drink awareness charity. pretty cool setup if it helps people put on shows (with any kind of band).
-
I'm not straightedge, but I do get bad hangovers, and I don't like being sloshed in a location I don't know as well as my hometown. It's mainly the hangovers that do it, though.
