...and I'd forgotten how good they are :D
I'd switched from them to Ultex Jazz IIIs when they came out as I liked the way they lasted a bit longer, and they suited the guitar/amp I was using in YC/DC at the time. More recently I've been using chunky V-picks but I've noticed more and more how they were blurring the bass notes too much and gliding over the strings, rather than having a bit if snap.
Best picks I've found so far though are the Eric Johnson Jazz IIIs - they're very nice indeed 8) A tiny bit larger than the regular reds, grippier and a bit snappier. Twice the price though.
I've got some 1.14 Tortex IIIs arriving soon, plus a couple of other Jazz III size Dunlops, to see what they're like too.
Cheap GAS for once!

There's a carbon fibre jazz III now, I've been meaning to check those out
As you've gone off the V-pick you might want to look into red bears, most people seem to prefer them
-
I've got the carbon JIIIs, they're very similar to the blacks but grippier.
I'm not paying Red Bear prices for picks so I'm trying a few tortex Dunlops out, otherwise I'll stick with the Eric Johnsons....
-
Know what you mean, they now make them in another material for half the price, probably for people who think they're too expensive.
Any experience of wood picks?
Found some pointy ebony ones the other week that caught my eye.

I use the 1.14 tortex Jazz IIIs. Get em 72 at a time from thomann (they wear out pretty fast with my heavy handed playing, so as cheap as possible per pick is good).
I keep trying other things and keep coming back to them.

I'm actually quite fond of these at 1.0mm

and these

I wish they both came in .90mm though. Currently only the sharps are at .90mm. They are great picks and give more of a pick attack to the tone.

I'm trying one of those at the minute and it seems OK so far. I've also got the Pitch Black version which I think I like a bit better.

I use green picks
I think I have some pink ones too!

I use a Wegen 3.5. I'm nearly useless without it.

I love the Ultex jazz IIIs. They're the blonde ones am I right? I love the Black Jazz IIIs too. I find when the round out a bit from wear, just sand them a little bit too a sharp point again :) I need to try the Red ones though

Ultex Jazz III in 2mm ftw. Small, fast, great for pinched harmonics...and black xD

I like the sound I get with those, but they're so $%ind awkward to play with.

I got used to it with practice, when I started using the 1.5mm tortex sharp my hands were out of sync then I used it on and off, now its my favourite pick. It changed the angle of how I hold picks and now I choke them even more but this resulted in playing tighter and cut down how long it took me to warm up.
-
I rediscovered Jazz III's recently too. Though I'm using the Carbon fibre Jazz III's which are fantastic. I quite liked the Tortex TIII's and Dunlop Sharps but I seem to relax a lot more with the CF Jazzy.
-
i got 72 of these babies :) Gotta love thomann. The tortex sharp is pretty much what helped me get better over pretty much anything else, other than practice. another nice feature is that they're not as prone to slip from your fingers as many other picks. It's mostly because of their thickness. Im considering to mod them with a bit of rubber on one of the sides, because i have a bad habit of fumbling with the picks :S

I tried those, too. I could never get use to the shape either. Thats why I use the Ultex Sharps with the Rhino I lover the sound of the pick attack of them as well.
