I've had a bit of GAS for a P90 guitar again for a little while, and playing Feline's latest Lion Cub really didn't help! I didn't want to spend a fortune so I've keeping an eye on eBay, a few shop websites and a couple of forums. Nothing really whetted my appetite until the guitar below appeared on eBay today. It arrives on Tuesday, pretty good looking for £325 I thought, and worth paying a little bit more than I wanted to for it.
I had BKP P90s in a Gibson LP DC Special a little while back which sounded great, but I prefer the PRS McCarty style scale length and control layout. Now the range has changed I'm not sure what the equivalent is to the 'old' P90, so I'll have to give BKP a ring. I may try the BKP pots and Jensen cap too.....

Another good choice, sir! I like that. I think I'd change the knobs on it as well as the pickups but that's just me.
I've been thinking P90 thoughts recently too. If a Soapbar McCarty trem ever turns up I may be rendered helpless.

I can't see the pics! Is it a Singlecut or Double?
-
Double Phil - with a tasty flame top veneer and a three tone sunburst....

Nice score, Dave. Every guitar player should own one guitar with p90s :D
The flame top looks good, but I think I prefer the more classic look of a non flame top on a jr.-esque guitar.
Get some BKPs in this baby and then it's sound clips all the way :D

I've got one wit "a" P90, does that count?
-
I had 91's in mine and they were perfect. 92's were a bit much.
-
Nantuckets are the pickups you want. Tim told me that they are the old LP Junior spec. I've just got a set to put in a 74 LP 55 Special

I had 10 at one point.
Down to 4 now. I think.

I have 7 (for now). 3 Juniors, 2 Specials, a Goldtop & a PRS

Very nice liking that one for the money looks a nice guitar.
-
very nice :)
-
lovely, it's a steal.
-
Ah, I can see the pics now! :D
Flame top looks great, even if it is just veneer (or fotoflame?). And the rosewood board looks good too - some of the SEs seem to have cr@ppy rosewood with lots of white bits embedded in the grain.
Starting to get a taste for budget guitars again Dave? They make me feel much less "guilty". And obviously they're much less detrimental to the credit card balance.

It does in deed count very much, sir :D
-
I like a project, and pimping stuff, so these SEs are perfect for that.
I'll see how it sounds stock before choosing between Blue Notes and Nantuckets. Like Phil says though, I think the Nantuckets are the way to go....
-
Great looking guitar Dave.
-
That's a pretty one. I also like the hollowbody P90 loaded SE's. With natural flamed veneer they look great.
-
Another great looking guitar Dave! But let's be honest, you never chose a bag of sh!t do ya?
-
 I try not to!
