Title: Anyone tempted by a Kemper profiling amp?
Post by: Johnny Mac on March 03, 2012, 08:24:55 AM
I've heard they're on sale in the States.
I've watched some very good A/B demos. What do you chaps think of them?

I have only seen a few clips, but the concept seems to work quite well. I'm not tempted though. Way too much knob fiddling and technical knowledge to keep up with for me. I'll stick to my Egnater MOD50. Kinda the same thing just a lot simpler  :D

The (German) reviews on Thomann are very negative, because apparently the software of the thing isn't ready yet and crashes a lot. Worse than a beta version of Windows Vista apparently. But the comments on the sound are good.

While the concept is good i still cant get over being stuck with that one sound from that moment in time that once you tweak with the front panel knobs goes incredibly pod xt sounding.

Also theres the fact that you will also need to have a well treat room and have the knowledge and skills to accurately mic an amp to a professional level otherwise it will just sound cr@p.

However as i said the concept itself is good.

+1 on the modular amp system.
Randall's licence has expired but Egnater are bring some new stuff to the table soon, and are already offering to make modules again

I can't wait for the new line of modular stuff grom Egnater although it seems like it's not to be released anytime soon. Hopefully they'll get the e2 out first thing with the new lineup
