Greetings,
I recently bought a pair of Nailbombs to replace the V7 & V8 stock pickups.
This wiring diagram illustrates the previous configuration:

I am uncertain whether I installed the Nailbombs correctly.
After soldering black and bare to gorund, I soldered the green and white wires where the red ibanez ones used to be.
The bridge pickup seems to work correctly, but the neck pickup is very thin.
I also soldered the red wires to the positions where the white Ibanez wires used to be; the bridge split sounds very weak and the neck split is not distinguishable from the neck humbucker mode.
I'll switch the black & red bridge wires to solve the bridge split issue, but I'm uncertain concerning the neck pickup since the green & white wires are seemingly connected correctly.

For this wiring to work properly you need to reverse the magnetic polarity of one of the pickups!!
I don't know why that fact isn't more widely acknowledged at BKP
-
What a tool I was! BKP actually has a wiring diagram for this setup, I just did not find it in the list because it is listed in-between the Braided-2-Con diagrams ^^
-
Now I cannot hear the neck pickup anymore at all :(

As Feline said you need to get the magnet in the neck pickup reversed otherwise it wont work correctly.
-
Wait, I physically have to open the neck pickup and turn around the magnet?

Yup this is one thing that you ideally need to add to the notes when ordering.
I would personally send it back to BKP.
If you get in touch and let them know im pretty sure they would happilly sort it out for you.

I already shortened some wire and cut the edges of the screw holders to make it fit into the rounded extensions of the pickup cavities of my Ibanez; haven't I already voided my warranty?

Im not entirely sure to be honest.
However the warranty is just if the pickup itself is broken.
Swapping the magnet around is an additional thing to this and you may get a small charge but you never know. It's best to email Tim and see.

I live in South Africa. Shipping and handling would cost around 40 pounds and I'd have to wait in excess of 6 weeks to get them back here (It already took 5 weeks to get here because of customs). I think I'll just take a risk and do it myself. Considering BKP's reputation, I doubt I'll ever have to make use of that warranty anyway.

Make sure that you do your research first.
or alternatively hook them up differently it would save a lot of hassle.
I know how great the ibanez 5 way wiring is though i have it on 2/3 of my guitars and soon it will be 3/3 when i get my next one and sell the 7 string

After doing some research, I realised that reversing the magnet and wax-potting the pickup again is a lengthy procedure that would require time that my studies currently will not allow. I will attempt this in my vacation.
However, is there an alternative way to hook up my pickups that I could use in the meantime?
-
What alternative way would there be to hook them up?
Would I only be able to use humbucker mode then?
you could just go
Bridge
bridge split
both
neck split
neck
or something like that.
-
Hmm, my neck pick still sounds relatively weak in this configuration, despite being closer to the strings than the bridge pickup.
-
have you tried it just in normal humbucker setting?
-
Yes, in humbucker mode the neck sounds full but the split is weak in comparison with the bridge split.
