Interesting stuff!
-
Will give that a watch

Set to record. Cheers for the "heads up"
-
I'm going to tape it too :D
-
Yep, in the planner :)

How did Juikeweicz (sp) get to be CEO of a major corporation? Man seems to be a cretin with no PR skills. His defence was "we adopted a don't ask, don't tell approach".
Showed the somewhat unfair victimisation of a high profile company though. Taking a few boards off Gibson then showing acres of logs at a Chinese lumber yard seems a little futile.

To be honest I don't think the victimisation was unfair as there were clearly regulations not being followed. For a large organisation with the resources of Gibson to play dumb is simply unacceptable.
I do feel he shot himself in the foot a little bit when he first claimed that they don't know where the wood they get from their suppliers comes from and then later said "we no longer used Madagscan wood". Either they knew all along what they were doing or now they have processes in place that they should have had from the outset.
That Chinese wood yard was rather extensive though wasn't it. Shocking.

It's Madagascan rosewood and ebony, it obviously came from Madagascar. The issue was whether it was illegally logged from national parks.
-
I recall from when the raid was first reported that they sent an armed aggressive SWAT team into Gibson with weapons drawn etc as if they were dealing with terrorists.
Seemed a bit OTT against a bunch of middle aged woodworkers.
Maybe one of them threatened to hijack a plane - like a smoothing plane
-
:D
-
wonder if the music over the documentary was played with a guitar that has Madagascan fretboard wood
-
Nah - Brazilian....

After a brief bit of research for another thread, it would appear that Madagascan rosewood is a drop in the ocean compared to Asian mahogany, why weren't they raiding ESP and Schecter?
-
They know martial arts *nods*
SWAT is ineffective and substandard against karate.
I've seen the films, it'd have been a bloodbath with literally gallons of blood being spilled.
It would have also probably been awesome and comedically dubbed...
I may have too many Asian films.

would it go something like this?

Can't see the link at work, and I'll probably forget later.... what is it?
-
The Raid, an OTT Indonesian action movie about a police raid on a tower block.
-
Ah, isn't that the same team who made Merantau? :)
-
It appears that way. Not exactly sure how these have passed me by :?
