ok i need a very specific guide on EXACTLY how to wire a push/pull pot for a p90 in my melody maker... i have NO idea what so ever... i really dont know where to start.......!

I would replace the Tone pot. You need to get one with the same value (probably 250K for a P-90 though Gibson have used 500K). Connect the existing wires to the new pot exactly as they are on the old one. Unsolder the live wire from the volume and put it to one of the outside tags on the switch (there a 2 lots of 3). Take the tap wire to the tag on the opposite end (so now you have a row of 3 with Main, nothing, Tap). Take a wire from the center to the volume (the tag where you disconnected the pickup wire).
That's it.

what is the live/main wire???????
i know its a lot to ask but any kind of basic sketch would help no end we just dont understand at alll....... (we thought we had it but the hum was STUPIDLY loud)

ahh at last...it works...it plays fine....hardly any hum and the volume control works and it pushes and pulls and changes n stuff.
Are the p90s even meant to be changed by turning the tone control...seems that the tone is changed by going up and down? couldnt i have just used a selector switch?
(im the one soldering sambos guitar btw)

Yes, the treble should roll off when you roll off the tone, just like a normal tone pot.
