Title: Any Jackson RR5 owners?
Post by: Madsakre on March 22, 2012, 05:59:51 PM
I found a black one for a steal. Im really looking for a King V with a hardtail, but they're hard/non existant unless you go for a USA model.

Well the thing is, how does these rr5's balance? how's the unplugged sound of them in general. And finally, which bkp would suit these kinds of axes for nun tight grindcore in Drop C?

The one thing i don't like about the RR5 I had was that theneck pickup was also a SD JB, and it had a Rosewood Fretboard which I think doesn't look as cool and fast as the Ebony ones. I also had a Floyd Copy, so that wasn't the best, as it's not an expensive guitar. But I'm guessing you want hardtail, so that wouldn't be a problem, and you can upgrade the pickups. Apart from that it's a great guitar. A Miracle Man would be great for a Maple Neck Thru :)

balance should be fine as it's neck thru, rhoads that nose dive tend to be bolt ons

Generally not a big bottom end so tightness isn't an issue. The higher end ones play a lot better, but also seem to have more crispness in the notes. They sound faster. Maybe that's money playing tricks on me, but that's my impression. I use whatever RR model is best if I'm trying out an amp in a store so I've played them all in addition to owning some. Balance is indeed mostly an issue on the bolt-ons, but that can be fixed easily by moving the strap button to one of the holes used to attach the neck. A wide strap also helps in that department.

Also pre-congrats!

I woke up this morning and decided that im going to buy it. Im also prone to altering the tuning to C/drop Bb. I've been a huge Parkway drive fan on my late years, so the music its going to translate for me is something similar, or plain cover songs.

The pickup. Im considering either a C-Pig, C-bomb or maybe the aftermath...
