Title: Pedal shoot out at ok Corral (Juansolo's pedals)
Post by: sgmypod on March 25, 2012, 12:12:29 PM
At Marauder's (Claggy) have never tried so many pedals in my life, from the well known tubescreamer, to lovely fuzzes to weird and wonderful noise boxes. Was like a mini BKP meet, go to try many lovely things including guitars, amps as well. Proper geek fest.

Have come away knowing many things, there are good les pauls out there, still don't get tel's and strats. V30's can sound good if cranked (kinda knew this), and that I will be working to pay for pedals from Jon for rest of my life.

Thanks guys was fun, will post later what I get

The questionable lady is as close to the original skreddy as they could get. Brilliant massive fuzz. John and cleggy's work is spot on. Just recently got a couple of new pedals from them as well.

You also didn't like muffs before you arrived ;) We'll have to work on the Tele thing.

I have so much trouble trying to figure out what people will like and what will work with their kit it's just easier for us to meet up at Mr Clegg's and have a geek-fest. I was amazed for example just how good the plexi-thing was through your amp. An effect that never (up to that point) really set my world on fire.

Was good fun. Next time I'll bring the Feline over and at least one Tele-ish guitar for you to play with ;) Cleggy's LP is just perfect, to be fair he's been through a few until he got that one...

I can add to the praise of John's pedals, I have several with a couple more that are ready but I haven't picked up yet.  I have the Angel Of Death Metal (valve OD in series with another OD with valve diodes), the Sinistube (another valve overdrive), a Klone, a Darkside, a Fuzzy Kitten, a Dirty Gurrl and the rebuild of the Akai Shred-O-Matic.  I should also have the Philcaster, but that disappeared from my parents house before I ever got my hands on it!  I've just got a Pedal Train Pro to get all the pedal on!

I had an Afro Samurai. Stupidly I sold it at a time of need. Maybe some day again I'll ask nicely for another.

I now have a Klonish as well as Alice.

It works great with my selmer.  after just watching the 30 minute youtube comparison of original gold silver and the new KTR klons i would quite happily say it does what they do just fine.

The last ever, final, never doing another Alice is half done (mine). They're such a swine to build. I made the mistake with mine of trying to put it in a half height box. It's causing all sorts of problems. Space is surprisingly tight!

You'll need to educate me here. What is the mayo based on? Not sure I've hard of it before.

Skreddy muff derivative, minus the unobtanium transistors.  Was my favourite until the ?Lady came along.

I assume the one Marc played is the one with the switchable diodes to make it more usable with bass.
