Title: Flying V's - Epiphone or Tokai (FV48)?

Has anyone played either of these?
Do any of you guys know if there are any major differences in quality/sound etc? (obviously BKPs will be fitted once I've bought one).
I think I want either an epiphone (maybe a gothic?) or a tokai V but I want one with the thinner neck (60's?) but the inline volume/volume/tone controls (rather than the triangulr bunch).
thinking about putting a set of warpigs in - is this a good choice (will be playing mostly rock and heavier stuff).

I've played the Epiphone 58 Korina.  It is a nice guitar to play (though I am sure that it had a maple neck not mahogany!).  This is the one with the strings through the body and controls all in line.  I got it for my Godson for his 16th birthday, and he has been using it all the time since (though he has now got his dad's 63 SG with BK's so it might start to gather dust!).  Last year he put a Black Dog bridge and a gibson 57 neck in it.  Either a Stormy Monday or Mule neck is next, though since he picked out the pickups for his Dad's SG (Mule bridge and VHII neck - that's what he liked at Music Live), perhaps he'll pick a different neck pickup.

tokai make nice guitars, but +1 from me on the epiphone '58 korina. i had one as my first guitar, and its still a favourite. i find the neck really friendly and its a joy to play.

Sorry - forgot to say about the warpig.  I have a warpig/mississippi queen combo in a Richwood Explorer and they sound great.  Fat humbucker tone with a great P-90 lead.  You can get the early and later Sabbath sounds!

Check out the Dean V's as well. Probably better guitars for the money.

The wood tht they use is nice, but the rest of the parts are cheap and do need replacing.  Once that is done then the guitar plays fine.  It is probably easier to get the Epiphone and just change pickups and pots!

yeah, i would say the same for my richwood (strat), new tuners and electronics and it's a really nice guitar.

Thanks for your input guys.
I think I've decided on the epi gothic V and a set of warpigs  :twisted: . Should be getting the money from selling my ESP next thurs so I'll probably change my mind a few times before then  :roll:  but fairly sure thats what I'll go for.

I've got a Richwood Jumbo acoustic (£99) - can't go wrong with those guitars at their pricepoint.
