Title: Advice on boost
Post by: Gary on February 07, 2006, 02:36:22 PM
Right now I'm having a bit of a love/ hate relationship with my Keeley Java Boost. It's a really well made pedal and it does a perfect job of driving the clean channel of my HRD into overdrive with a nice bit of bite.

The problem is I need to use clean sounds occasionally and I have two options:

1. Turn the pedal off - sounds obvious I know, but the Java Boost adds quite a lot of high mid (in a good way) which means turning it off results in a comparatively dull sound,

2. Roll back the guitar volume - due to the nature of the Java boost this means turning it back to around 3 - 4 before I get anywhere close to clean and at that level the volume drop is too much to be useable.

I'm not getting rid of it as it's a really good bit of kit - even it it means I can only use it for recording. I was hoping someone else may have some experience of using one live and be able to give me some tips.

HJM - if you're reading this I seem to remember you saying you used to have one - any ideas?
