I recently bought a really great guitar from Schecter, the Hellraiser C-1 FR, which just needs a change of pickups to get rid of the EMG's, and probably going to switch them with some Aftermaths. I've asked a few people, and they all say that i can leave the jack socket, i just need to change the pots and then i'm all set. I was just wondering if anyone here knows what the difference would be if i bought a new switchcraft socket from Bare knuckle? is it better quality, or no difference whatsoever?

There will be a minor difference but it will be so small you most likely wont notice it.

Won;t he have to change it? I was aware EMGs had Stereo Jacks, whereas with passive pickups you use mono? Or does the Stereo Jack just have an extra leg in case you want stereo?

The only difference is the extra lug that switches the battery in and out.
You can just ignore that and it will be absolutely fine.

I think the EMG jacks are Switchcraft anyway, aren't they? But my memory may be failing me.

I know the barrel jack ones are.

Ah fair enough! think i'll just stick with the stock input jack then :p
