Amazing! I always thought he used a Digitech Whammy for that. It's a bit too blurry to see what he does exactly.
I feel the need for a Floyd equipped guitar.
-
HAHA - These rock, i spent ages last night making them screeeeaaaam. then my family woke up :?
-
Cheers for the link Steve, much appreciated.
-
HAHAHA! GETCHA PULL OFF THAT shite! What a line. I want a guitar with a floyd now :P Cheers for the link
Edit, been trying these on my old strat copy, hard to get right! Do you just hover your finger over the frets like a normal natural harmonic, or tap on the frets?
-
Stupid cheap strat...
I cant do them right now, they dont look easy. Maybe i should think about getting the guitar in my pic, maybe that will help.
-
i can do the main bit of actually pulling off and getting the harmonic thats easy, but as i have no trem i cant do the bending/wailing bit. i dont really get what you have to do with the trem anyway???
tom you just hover your finger over, putting a tiny bit of pressure on the string when its vibrating... the more you twang the string with the pull off the easier it is...
-
Ah I didnt know if it was different to a natural harmonic or what. As for the whammy bar, I think you depress it when you do the pull off then bring it back up when you've done the harmonic bit (then give it a massive wiggle for added coolness 8) )
-
lol cool... cant wait to try them on my mates JEM on saturday..

Hahah yeah I'm gonna have a go on my mates SG extreme thing doin em, should be fun.
Edit - those touch harmonics are bloody cool aswell! Pre bend on 3rd fret g string, pluck string, touch harmonic on 15th fret, release bend! Ooh its harmonic goodness
-
awwww man that video upsets me i hate seeing him he's like one of my biggest hero's.. makes me sickend what happend to the man.
-
I haven't seen the video, but I assume it's the trick where you drop the bar, play a 4th fret harmonic on the G string and then yank the bar up to make it squeal?
Ages ago when I had a Dean ML (was a BIG Dimebag fan years ago) I read a magazine interview with him where he was talking about how he did all these weird effects.
I learned them all
1 of my old favourites was to play the 5th fret harmonics on the G, B and E at the same time, dive these with the bar and the do the G string 4th fret harmonic squeal on the way back up :D
-
Cool tattoo there, James.
-
I hope it was your arm :)

He seriously was the man for inspiring guitar players. I saw Pantera when I was 15 at the Plymouth pavillions, I got on stage with Phil and Dime and got a couple of plectrums..Good days.
-
its not fair that all you adults got to be there when all the GOOD bands were around.... us youngsters can only dream....

It's OK. emoMetal seems to be dying out thankfully. There'll me more room for actual musicianship when bands no longer have to stop stare at their shoes during gigs. ;)
Muttley

lol hopefully..
my theory is now that guitar bands (kaiser chiefs, arctic monkeys, franz ferdinand e.t.c) are starting to dominate the "popular music" scene, pop music will start to evolve and get slightly heavier as more people get into guitars.... basically its the 60's, 70's or whatever bloody decade it was that guitars were popular and everyone wanted to be in band, all over again! soon we'll be a rock-band nation... YAY!
-
and once again for us professional musicians it's going to be a bar-steward to get noticed among the hordes of wannabe's, people will be getting signed for absolute cr@p.. ooh thats already happening lol.. :P
Session work is a bar-steward to get aswell now.
-
indeed my friend... indeed...

Please dont refer to me as an "Adult"!!!! :o :D
I was fifteen when I saw Pantera and I am still Fifteen now!!!
I am going to prove this by going to "DOWNLOAD" this year!!!  Could be a mistake but hey!
-
wait a sec... your fifteen?
-
wait a sec... your fifteen?
are you joking....
-
I just realized I miss Pantera. There isn't much good metal music around these days IMHO.
I haven't downloaded music in ages. Most bands I like aren't filthy rich milionaires so I like to support them a bit. And those compressed and compromised MP3's just sound horrible.
-
dont we all... (miss pantera)....
i cant tell the difference between mp3 and CD quality.... its probably because ive never really been a CD person ive always downloaded most of my music from limewire....
-
mental age 15! The rest...26
-
haha i thought that was a bit suspect.... (you filthy adult!) :D :P
-
26 and feeling funny bout going to Download!
Damn if I was in UK by then I would go. Like to see Metallica again, and throw S**T at LARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
