Title: Which single coil set for the Gilmour tones displayed here?
Post by: Modular1 on April 14, 2012, 10:51:52 AM
5:08 onwards (the cleanish jangle) is the tone I'm looking for for my black strat. Enjoy the rest at your pleasure. I think this performance is so much better than the one on the record. Its just so much more raw. 7:34 onward is just brilliant.

That jangle sounds like Irish Tours, but on the forum in general Slowhands are recommended for Gilmour-esque tones. The are a bit middier then IT's and a tad more output. IT's have more sparkle in comparison. I think they might do too, if you have a good tubeamp.

I think forum member Hunter have made some great Gilmour-ish clips with Apaches. Try to see if you can dig'em up.

Well its the tone in that example i'm looking for rather than a general 'gilmour' tone. Irish tours are looking like the way to go. :)

Is there a pricing liston the bkp site anywhere for the prewired aged pick guards? I can't seem to find it if there is.

Yes, in the webshop you see aged prewired guards in the strat-section. They cost 80 quid. When you order a pickupset you can add in the commentbox your wishes too.

Pompeii is also my favourite Gilmour tone. I think Irish Tours may be a bit strong for that, I would aim for Apaches, maybe a bridge one with a baseplate? Add a silicon fuzz face and you'll be near.

Maybe, though the IT's are quite versatile when you use the vol. and toneknobs on your guitar.
