Title: How can I tell whether my pickups have a RWRP middle?
Post by: Chris on April 15, 2012, 11:22:48 PM
Pretty much what the title says - I have a set of Irish Tours and a set of Fender '69 pickups, neither of them bought by me.  So is there a way to tell whether they have a RWRP middle pickup?  I would have thought this was a common question, but after doing a few searches on here and on Google, I can't find an answer...

As a very rudimentary test I've noticed that there is much less hum in positions 2 and 4 with the IT set, which might indicate RWRP, but I don't know whether that is a really good test or whether that is characteristic of some single coil sets anyway - my experience with single coils is very limited!

i believe rwrp is hum cancelling in 2 and 4, so yes you do.

The magnets are reversed in the middle pickup so the tops of the middle and neck pickups should attract, tops of bridge and neck should repel if the middle is RWRP.
