Hi, I know you have probably all heard this before but as a newcomer I would value any help. I have an Epi G 400 and want to get something like the Angus Young sound. My son is using the riffraff in the bridge of his Gibson SG Special and he swears by this for the acdc sound but what do I put in the neck ? I notice that a match pair of riffraffs are available would this give me the sound I want or would it be too much ?
Thanks.

A calibrated RiffRaff-set would be spot on.

I don't think we need go any further than that.
Welcome to the forum, by the way. :D

Riff Raff all the way as pointed out by the gents.

Definitely RR set.

Thanks for advice and your welcome messages. Sounds like a no brainer then.
Just one further question - Do I need the short or long leg for the Epi G 400 ?
-
You'd probably be OK with either long or short legs on that guitar, but short will definitely do the trick.

long legs
sg pickups sometimes need to be set pretty high and short legs won't allow that

Yeah, but on this Epi model they're ring mounted, not scratchplate mounted, so the rings provide the height.
Short or long, either way it'll be OK.

OK, the order is in. Can't wait to get them, I went for the calibrated set of riffraffs.
I asked a couple of questions in my order and within 30 mins I had Ben from BKP on the phone to discuss and agree the final spec. Customer service like I can't remember getting anywhere before, absolutely fantastic - Thanks, Ben and BKP.
One thing that may interest others, I asked if the etching service was still available and to my delight I'm getting both covers etched 'Bare Knuckles' for £20 all in, absolute bargain.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Thats really cool!
I've heard great things about Riff Raffs and I wouldn't choose any other pickups for an ACDC tone!
BKP customer service has been great to me many times and of course: How great is it that the actual owner of the company (Tim, of course) responds to your emails within only a matter of hours no matter how stupid or noobish your questions are and even posts on the forums?!
I don't see Seymour Duncan or Mike DiMarzio (that his name, right??) doing that!

Larry DiMarzio.
I think he devotes more time to his photography these days, Steve Blucher is the main man at DiMarzio.
To be fair, I think I've had personal emails from both Steve Blucher and Evan Skopp, the main designer guy at Seymour Duncan. Most guitar accessory manufacturers are genuine guys who care about their products - but as the companies get bigger, there's less time to spend on personal service. It's just the nature of business.

Latest !
Ordered on Friday, PUPs dispatched Monday and I had them in my hands on Tuesday complete with etched covers. That's want you call service. A few questions, including some missing fixing bolts all of which Tim answered and put right. Can't praise the service highly enough.
Got them in the guitar and set up last night, absolutely great sound, just what I wanted to hear. Over the moon.
If you have a Gibson or Epi SG then try these for the Angus sound, don't think you'll be disappointed.
Many thanks Tim.

Nice!
Speaking of good customer service...
I had my Holy Diver/Emerald Set complete in 4 days, arrived abroad in my country (Israel) in only 2 days (that Royal Mail Track N Trace thing is so useful)! Unfortunately customs slowed it down and made me wait for another week just to pick it up and they didn't even make me pay anything (which of course I'm happy about but I don't understand why they had to keep it there instead of deliver it directly to my house).
I got them installed the same day and I couldn't be happier.
Also the tech who installed my pickups and new pots actually worked over hours on a Friday to get it done the same day completely free of charge and even phoned me to tell me that one of the components that I bough weren't suitable for the wiring that I wanted and asked if I wanted to replace it with one that was suitable... free of charge!
I've finally found a reliable tech (who also happens to be a luthier) and a pickup company that doesn't disappoint me in any way!
These will be my go-to people for electronics and hardware from now on!
