Title: Belated NAD
Post by: FELINEGUITARS on April 23, 2012, 01:08:46 PM
I wanted one of these since I started on the Egnater /Randall amp pathway, but chose for practical reasons to go with the rack mount preamp, which I am still more than pleased with.

My last attempt to go with a modular head was the Lynchbox head and 4x12, which was fun but not practical.
The thing that made this of interest is the low output setting , which sounds really good , along with a very good master volume that doesn't spoil the sound when dialled down.
This belonged to a friend who had had a change of living circumstances resulting in this clogging up his parents home, and he wasn't using it at all, so after a bit of horse trading it is now mine.
I kind of wanted it so if I do any guitar shows I will have a head to use for them - maybe need to team it up with a Zilla 2x12.
I certainly have enough modules that I can use on it.
Think I'll have to rig some of the FX units from my rack so they are easy to patch into the amps loops as I like a little reverb etc.

It can take a variety of tubes and is currently running a pair of Russian EL34s.
The only poor bit of design is that the weigt is a bit at one end of the head due to the positioning of the transformers

I gotta say, some years ago I was one of a few guys here spending serious money on amps, this seems to have changed a lot. Having a few booteek amps is becoming the standard in here. I think it's a good thing. Never ever can have enough good amps to play your BKPs through!!!

Congrats, Mod50 is seriously cool!

Egnater Module collection must be nearly complete now, does it?
Great catch!

Yes - it's like Pokemon - gotta catch them all!

It's a problem when you start looking at modified modules too as you can suddenly imagine amps to own that weren't previously an option.

The modding business is really great. So many great mods to choose from it's hard to know where to begin. I'm really drawn to Salvations Madarine Stonerverb, Duoplex, Salvado, Mash-oldano and TwinFace.
