Hey guys.
Myself and Toe-Knee on here have been having a long drawn out argument for a while now and I thought it a good idea to get some outside input so we can bring it to an end:
He hates Iron Maiden but prefers Coronation Street, whereas I hate Coronation Street and prefer Iron Maiden.
Who's right??
-
In this case rightness is subjective (but toe-knee is wrong :D)
-
neither of you, they're both rubbish
8)
-
you are both partly right.
Take toe-Knee's hatred of Iron Maiden and your hatred of Coronation street - then we can all move forward with our lives :)
-
I've never really watch Coronation Street or listened to Iron Maiden so can't really comment.
One thing about Coronation Street is that, after Last of the Summer Wine, it is the most depressing theme tune in TV history. LOTSW was particularly depressing as it was on on a Sunday night and always reminded me that I was due in school the next day.
-
I like coronation street for a few reasons.
1. I grew up watching it so it just kinda stuck apart from a few years when i was single.
2. The chicks dig it. Its a great ice breaker. It cured the latter part of reason 1 a few times.
Now maiden.
I dont dislike the band. I dislike Bruce Dickinson. They were far better with Blaze imho
-
Rob Halford of Judas Priest is a Coronation Street fan!

See if its good enough for Halford its good enough for all!

C'mon - if you have to like a singer other than Bruce - at least make it Paul Dianno circa 1979

I think its because i really like Blazes solo stuff. The last album was great as were the smaller shows he did.
I hadn't actually heard any Dianno Maiden until yesterday.
-
Blaze was cool, Bruce is a king among men!
Last time I saw coronation street it was best I could figure it was really supposed to be some sort of psychological torture that happened to find its way onto TV.
In summary
Iron Maiden > most things
Most things > Coronation Street
point to brow.
Sorry tony.
-
I hate, and refuse to watch, any and all soaps.
I love Iron Maiden.
I'm with Brow on this one.
-
SLAYER!!!

Ok calm down everyone. What kind of picks are we using this week?
-
And was the music shop allowed to sell them to you over-the-counter?

I've heard they're now selling Dunlop Jazz IIIs in plain, unbranded packets - so you don't know if you're getting black or red ones. :o
-
And isn't there minimum price legislation on it's way to discourage people like Frank from binge-picking?
(EDIT: They've definitely got that wrong, though, it's not the picks, it's the strats... although you could argue about what the definition of a strat-binge is...)
-
I'm with Blue - I hate both of them, although I prefer Iron Maiden of the two as I can't stand the repetitive cycle of grim northerners drinking pints and having affairs - now if there was a soap about east Londoners drinking pints and having affairs, I might watch that....
-

Good Gods, I think this might be the second or third time in a year that I'm in agreement with Ian about something :)
My sister used to watch the omnibus of Eastenders on a Sunday - it was late morning or early afternoon I think, but that was my 'depressing Sunday theme tune' equivalent. That and 2 1/2 hours of Eastenders is enough to make anyone slit their wrists if you ask me.
It's strange, because Ski Sunday was really getting on for the last thing I'd watch before bedtime on a Sunday night as a kid, but the theme tune for that didn't give me the same 'Oh cr@p it's school tomorrow' vibe!
-

Perhaps set in a fictitious postcode area like, oh..... London E20?
-
I don't watch Coronation Street, but having seen episodes here and there, it's certainly better than the appalling mess of tiresome balls that is Iron Maiden.
-
yeah i like maiden
don't watch coronation street
-
I don't really understand why there's such strong feeling about these two...
I could happily watch either of them with the sound turned down and Radio 4 on in the background.
-
I might get one of these

That is by far the best description of Iron maiden that i have ever heard. Kudos.
This is a reason Brow would watch coronation street. He has said so himself!

I've been more into Radio 5 Live recently. Radio 4 can be very dull in the evenings.

Careful Roo - you'll be in agreement about "you know what" soon.

True enough, I'm not blind
Still............. My own life is depressing enough as it is without watching other people live out misery and despair. Or am I confusing that with Eastenders?

There are limits ;)

I'd disagree with Toe-knee on the principle that he is a massive end anyways, however, not liking Maiden is a crime against humanity. You deserve to be stabbed in the face with a brick by a mountain bear called Pablo.

Bah They were better with Blaze... And Blaze is better solo

Still better than maiden :D
-
... I preferred the original line up and prefer Dickinson's solo albums to Maiden ones...
Odd, I know.
-
There have been periods when Coronation Street has been the funniest thing on telly. Equally there have been periods when Iron Maiden have been the funniest thing in metal.

Dunno why this keeps getting bought back.
