Title: NSG&PD
Post by: DavidRees on April 27, 2012, 05:19:11 PM
the never ending search for 'tone', whatever that may be...and the constant sense of frustration that our searches often bring us...
however, just recently, after 25 plus years of playing 10-46 [with a couple of years with 11s], I have tried 9 - 46s and have also taken the opportunity to up my pick size from 1.5mm gator grip to 2.0, and you know what...I'm having a great time. I am concentrating more on my playing [fingering, touch, vibrato etc] and additionally completely losing myself in it as I drift off on another musical adventure...

It appears, after many years of convincing myself otherwise, that sometimes just a few smallish changes can re energise our playing and get us back into delivering the music we all have within us. David  8)

Amen to that :D

I'm a confirmed 11s guy on electrics, but recently (because I can cope with switching between multiple scale lengths, neck profiles, fingerboard radii, fret sizes) I've been thinking I really ought to set up at least one guitar with lighter strings again to explore what adjusting to that would give me.
