The pink offset and the Jaguarillo in blue pique my gas and I have always loved the blue Mustang....
http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/pawnshop/models.php?prodNo=0143300
-
I like them all, including the bass!
I don't know how well these are selling, but kudos to the designers anyway, they have some very cool and well-realised ideas.
I'm still quite keen on the Mustang Special, but it reached a point last year where even I thought I'd bought too many guitars. :?
-
that reverse Jaguar bass looks like a more compact firebird. do a guitar version!
-
I am deeply in love with the pawn shop guitars. They've got the funky retro feel that Gibson keep trying to capture with the added advantage that you wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in public with one.
-
and lets not forget the coolest amp advert ever.........
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-R1pMp7iwg
-
Great ad - superb tone from the Strat!
-
Great ad for the excelsior amp :D
I dig the jaguarillo most. The bass would be much cooler with a normal headstock.
-
cool little ad. and it reminds me of Stan Lee :)
-
I quite like the offset special, but I think it would be slightly cooler if it had a starcaster headstock.
-

It might be the coolest, but I can't actually think of many other amp adverts....
Truly dreadful acting (and boring playing) from the shop assistant guy. But the harmonica bloke made me laugh. :D
-
I thought this was the best amp add

-
I thought Big Bob was going to say 'I had a customer in and he said 'I am looking for a guitar amplifier and I said ......
Excelsior.....
But no, it was not to be.

He looks like John Travolta with more hair
-
Jaguarillo looks nice. The bridge/trem-system is not my thing though.
-
i dunno about that pink one
-
I think they do look pretty cool. Love what fenders doing
-
Just looked at the specs and the Jaguarillo has the same 24 inch scale length as the Mustang. So I'll keep saving for the Don Grosh Electrajet (http://groshguitars.com/guitars/bolt-on-models/electrajet/) instead.

slight difference in price there....

Sweet guitar. As Elliot mentioned, a different priceleague.
-
Well yes, they are pricey. But the gallery pages are utter guitar porn. This really caught my eye ...

That's a beauty. Tangerine sparkle is a bit too flashy for me, but nevertheless stunning axe.

I got a blonde pawn shop '51 at the beginning of the year and I love it to bits. Putting a holydiver and an irish tour in once I gather the funds.
Got an email from guitarguitar this morning saying the '11 range are 20% off, just in case any of you are interested:

^ interesting

With all you guys raving for some months (years?) over what I've always termed the "wonky fender" shapes, I've tried real hard to get into them... you can't all be wrong(!)
But I'm afraid I just don't see it
Yeah, cute guitars, but they don't grab me, probably never will...
And in case Roo's reading - I do not include Telecaster (or Stratocaster) in "wonky fender" shapes, but I think I maybe understand some of what you feel about the Telecaster :o. I wouldn't go as far as condemning someone who likes/plays one of these wonky ones - live and let live, etc, there's all sorts for everyone. But let's say, if I was in a band auditioning another guitarist, and he got one of these out... ummm ...he probably wouldn't get the job!

£469 ... I have cash burning a hole in my pocket now but I really want to get a Jazz Bass this weekend!

WHAT???!!!
:o :? :x
That is a positively Roo-like comment.
I'm surprised at you, Mr R.

Ah, didn't the "lol" emoticon do enough of it's job?
And it was intended as an observation about/against me rather than the owners/GAS-ers of these.
Nothing against the idea of them as guitars, or other folks liking them (and after x years I still can't quite believe that Roo is actually that anti- the tele and its users), but the image really doesn't grab me. So, yeah, I think it's true, if I were auditioning a guitarist for an act I was in (and in control of, obviously!!), the image is important and would probably put me off, they'd have to add a whole lot more to the party to get over the initial "oh..."
Think of it as an illustration of the epic fail I was feeling watching this particular thread (after many others over time). Look at it this way - there's loads of you who have quite common tastes with me, except you all dig these... so I've been spending all this time watching threads with them in, trying to get into them. But this thread I've suddenly realised I can't, and that means I can't share in the general enthusiasm. I found that a bit sad (for me) and the "wouldn't get the job" story is there to show just how badly I can't get into them.
No there's no actual Roo-ness here, but what I'm trying to express probably doesn't come across right in a post! (So maybe we've been misunderstanding Roo? :? ....nah )

No worries, he hasn't... he won't stop :D

You're right*.... but I'm going to try to keep that £499 in my pocket (or off my credit card statement)!
(* well, I have changed - but mostly in body weight)

i think i agree with what Andy is saying here. there are, of course exceptions, like J. Mascis, but whenever i see a band with one of the "wonky" Fenders, i instantly think "poseurs". i already know it's going to be dull as ditchwater angsty rubbish with a singer that thinks he's Jeff Buckley or Nick Cave but is actually a GCSE poetry level tw@t. the other guitarist will invariably have a '70's Tele custom and they will irritate me to the point of wanting to shoot my TV!!

I do know what you mean, but don't hold the failings of the guitarists against the guitars!
Jags and Jazzmasters aren't really to my taste, but they are still cool. And '70s Tele Customs and Deluxes are fecking awesome. :)
(All these negative vibes are almost making me decide to buy that Mustang Special after all........ )

Sh1t, he's on to us! It was just a cunning ploy to make Philly buy another neck and body (albeit as a finished guitar)
Hang on... you've already bought/ordered one, haven't you?
-
All this negativity has got reaching for my foam green Jaguar and spinning my old vinyl of From Her To Eternity.... Awesome
-
Suddenly I feel the urge to grab my Tele and riff out on my Rockerverb... :D
-
hey, don't get me (entirely) wrong! there's nothing wrong with those guitars, and plenty of people have done awesome things with them. unfortunately the "scenester", as i believe they're called, crowd seem to gravitate towards them. and they're almost entirely composed of @sshole. it's their air of superiority while being swamped in dull mediocrity that gets my goat. yes, my goat is thoroughly gotten by them.
oh, and in case of any confusion, i LOVE Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds!
-
Hang on... you've already bought/ordered one, haven't you?
Not yet....
I thought they might sell out quickly, but they haven't....
Let's go and look at some reviews....
-
I want to, Frank..... but I just keep buying stuff..... it has to stop! :|
twinfan hasn't bought much for a while either, has he?
there's the cause of the double dip...

This too..
I have nothing good to say about these guitars. So will now keep quiet. :?

Depends what you mean by "a while", Dave!
(I refer to myself as well as Twinfan!)

42, 62, 72, 82 ABOUT FIFTY YEARS! (best face ever) FIFTY YEARS OF QUALITY!
Yeah I must be getting old because all those Fenders look good to me. Don't know if that's good or bad....
-

So two Private Stock PRSs, a Singlecut, an SE Custom and a 65 Amps Empire rig in 6 months isn't "much"? :? I would have thought by anyone's standards it was.
It certainly is to me, I'm still paying off the last two PS guitars!
-
And the Henderson... and the DGT can't have been much more than six months ago, was it?
(Edit: Ah, you've updated already! )
-
 Yeah, I didn't have time to react last night, but I was thinking "If you mean TF hasn't bought anything for a couple of weeks, then yeah... but I don't think we can blame any double-dip on this particular consumer"
-
 Exactly! The DGT was a bit more than 6 months ago, I got it before I moved jobs around October I think?
I think that's more than enough over that period of time!
-
I think we should aim for at least one a month....
-
To be honest, when I have the funds free to do it, I kind of regard one guitar a month as a perfectly reasonable way of behaving...
Obviously depends on how much a particular guitar costs, and there is the issue of space, as well... but we work to get spending power - when the "rest" is covered, might as well spend it on stuff... and guitars is pretty good "stuff" in my book
-

It's getting boring on the forum. Didn't see a new catch from you last week... :)

A man after my own heart!
Space is a pain, but having watched a couple of TV programmes about hoarders recently - which made for slightly uncomfortable viewing - I am starting a clearout and tidy-up at home.
Stage 1: Putting up some shelves, which I am doing this weekend..... at "Philly Q pace", obviously. So far I've cleared the guitars and things from the relevant corner and been to Homebase to acquire the relevant wall fixings etc. No holes drilled or planks sawed just yet....
-
This is how John Entwistle dealt with a similar problem...

:o :o

ah right, woops
i just must have forgotten the last couple of ones you guys bought
-
Dropped in by a man in a long raincoat.
Look closely at the name on the headstock.

I really wish I liked Jazzmasters and Jaguars. But I just don't. Too many knobs and switches.
-
Drrroooolllll - G _ A _ S (except they will probably be made of basswood....)
-
Is basswood a problem? I've got a basswood strat that sounds incredible.
edit: Not sure about basswood but I'm detecting possible Agathis on the sunburst Jaguar
-

And they'll probably have really skinny necks....
But I do like the look, especially the Mustangs.
-
Don't see the need for these. Kinda lame marketing idea.
