Title: My Swirled Partscaster
Post by: Toe-Knee on May 06, 2012, 01:53:07 AM
The bridge and neck are temporary whilst i decide on specs for the neck and i'm also waiting for a kahler from jacksonRR whenever the pcbs arrive so it can all be shipped together.

Temporary pickups in atm. Entwistle HVX - ASN57 - HVX

The HVX are really nice pretty much like a cold sweat but less toppy and the midrange is a touch more aggressive. The aftermath set will end up in this over the next few days.

Strung with DR Neons which are a lot better than i expected. I've generally found coated strings to sound dull in the past but these sound just as good as the normal DRs.

Nice bro! With the green strings I would call this one ''the frog''.

GULP! I really can't see me wearing this (or my wife even letting it in the house!), but it does look kinda cool. :D

And the strings work well. Interesting what you say about them - my experience of covered strings has been the same, and when we were reading about these a while back I thought "they might look interesting, but what do they sound like?"

I can't help wondering, though, if you've "gone off" the metal for the moment, what are you planning on using this for? You'll get a few eyebrows raised if you show up at your local folk-club with this little beauty!

Well i doubt it'll be used for any folk :D So far it just fits very well tonally with anything 80s but i havent fully decided the purpose of this currently it's just my non ibanez guitar :D And well i guess it could be used for anything really as no matter what it's used for it will raise a lot of various reactions (probably disgust mainly :D)

I love the look of it. I'd never go there personally but thats because I am an old git and would look more stupid that I normally do.

I think that could be a little bit too much :D

A friend suggested getting UV light fretmarkers so the strings glow always.

Or build one with different tolex for each guitar....

ive toyed with that idea but im leaning more towards the kramer classic beak style one.

Ill have to wait and see.

I agree, lighted fretmarkers are an absolute necessity for this guitar. Oh and wear a purple suit when you play it. That and plenty of blacklights and you're golden.

You gotta commit, man, just go completely over the top with this one

The first two images in your post won't load for me. I think it's my computer trying to protect my eyes from the tele hideousness (assuming the body is a tele shape?).

If it is, I am very disappointed in you, Tony :(

The green'n'black swirl bodyart is just breathtaking!

I spent a couple of months looking at this before finally taking the plunge. It was kinda captivating in a weird way. It looks far better in person though.

I can't wait to get it finished properly.
