I'm hoping the response is 'it sounds like a vintage single coil'
-
I feel like it sounds decent. It matters what guitar you're in.
-
It's going to be in a custom telecaster in the bridge
-
My neck emerald in my les Paul sounds very much like a 60s Strat single coil. Maybe slightly mellowed but it sound great. It'll probably sound even better in the bridge position of a Strat.
For really great coil split sound you should look at: VHII, Holy Diver and Emerald. Maybe the crawler too.

oops... i accidentally doubled my comment.
anyway, the emerald should sound great.
-
Just what I wanted to hear, thanks guys :)
-
No problemo!
-
The Crawler splits wonderful, I can tell you. It feels very alive, big stratty tones from the bridge.
-
I'd be more inclined to go with the Crawler because I think the Emerald would be too bright in a Tele whereas the Crawler is excellent in Fender style guitars.

I forgot to add the telecaster is a warmoth job, made of mahogany so it isn't very bright
-
You'll find the Emerald "smooth" then...

The Crawler might be a bit too rounded and soft for mahogany. Emerald is not a bad idea then.
