This thing is the Sh*t. I can't believe something this amazing only cost me £150. Even putting it through my Roland Combo, it sounds stupidly great. It has pretty much every tone i could ever ask for. Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Megadeth, Death tone are all there. It only took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to use it too. If any one see's one about, get one! or tell me about it

Funny you should say that ...
Spotted this in my front room earlier

Now that's just showing off

Thats ssoooo not fair!!!
I think they should be evenly distributed amongst us - anyone else agree?!!

OK what is an Ada? I dont even know

I agree, what is this elusive ADA?...

:D It`s a pre amp. Not the bit that gives you volume but the bit that creates your sound ! gives you gain etc. Marshall make one called the JMP 1 i think Mesa make one as well can`t remember what its called tho.....

Mesa makes one called a Triaxis.

Ah right cool. Looks like you'd better get some clips up here for us now then :D

I've heard great things about thes ADA MP-1 preamps, that they give a great rock/heavy metal tone. But I've also heard they deliver a noticeable amount of hiss in the process, is this true?

Only a bit. It doesn't colour your tone in anyway though.

They were very popular in the mid/late 80s with alot of LA (hair)metal bands. I remember trying one and it was good for that type of 'american' sound (high-gain Boogie type tone).
I'd buy one for £150 any day of the week, cool preamps.

I like the Digitech Twin Tubes (but not the later 21xx 2 rack space units). It has more rock and blues sounds but I use it through a Hush II for the noise!

http://www.adadepot.com is a great site to find out all about ADA stuff and the modifications available to them

Ohh that sounds pretty good on a few of the clips but it just doesnt have that organic goodness a "normal" amp has somehow :P However it sounds really versatile, I'd be interested in one if I had a decent poweramp and cab
