Yep, I've got a secret; I've been a Nik Kershaw fan for decades.
This is great!

Although he had silly hair, silly clothes and his records were over-produced (like most records in the '80s), I always thought he had good songs.
And you could tell he was really into guitars because he actually played a custom-built one!

See, I don't mind what Nick Kershaw fans get up to in the privacy of their own homes, I just don't like the idea of them getting married.

It always reminded me of my Hamer Special. A good body shape for the smaller player.
Come to think about it, I must have put the Kahler tremolo on my Hamer round about the time Nik Kershaw was at his peak. I don't think that decision was influenced by him, though.... :?

I saw a programme about him once which had some footage of the band jamming in rehearsal. He'a very good guitarist who wrote some unusual songs. I read that when he gigged in New York Miles Davis turned up to check him out.

We do share some dark secrets in this forum...
"My name is David, and I am a Nik Kershaw fan as well" :? :P
He made one mistake though... a rather lucrative one though!!

Well, I must confess I never realised he wrote that (or if I did, I'd totally forgotten)
.... but when you listen to it, it's a blindingly obvious piece of pure Kershaw.
Anyway, not a mistake. I like that song!

It was built by a guy called Dave Gladden. I think he is/was a friend of Nik's, don't know if he ever had a guitar-building business as such.
