Title: Holy Divers in a Vintage V100, metal and solo

Hello fellas,

I know there's been some talk lately (or perhaps I mean always :)) about putting a set of HDs in a dark mahogany guitar. So I thought I could share a demo recording I did the other day.

I put a calibrated set in my Vintage V100 Peter green, which is quite dark and I like it. Smooth pickups, not as aggressive as my Alnico Nailbombs in my PRS SE Custom 24.

Still they are very tight, almost difficult to play in high gain settings, or maybe I just need to practice more. ;)

This regarding is done through a Bugera 333. No boost on rythm, but a Maxon OD-9 pro+ on the leads. The wah is from my Boss GT6, custom patch I made.

Recorded through a Marshall 4x12 (sorry, don't know the speakers in that cab) and caught with a SM57. Everything is recorded in my studio by me. If anyone needs drum track for your own songs I'll gladly help out.

The HDs sound great! I was thinking the exact same thing to put one in the bridge as I have a mahogany guitar as well. I have one in the neck and love it. The solo sounds killer, nicely played a really nice sound.

I wish I had a 4x12 - there's a big distorted-but-clear sound you can get that's impossible to replicate on a 5 watt amp

if you had the boost on the rhythms and less gain and bass from the amp, that should sound even better

I will try this, thanks for the constructive input! It's really odd that when I'm playing I feel that the tubesceamer sometimes "eats" too much bass out of my sound. But sometimes, good sounds after micing and mixing isn't the same thing as good sound playing. :)

Chargrilled: Thanks.  I thought you got a nice sound out of the HT-5, when close micing I don't find a big difference between a 4x12 or a combo.

Like those clips especially the voice on Christlena is great :)
