Title: Should I ?
Post by: rjbee on May 21, 2012, 11:34:48 PM
I have an Eric Jonson Strat that I've had for a number of years now and while I love the sound of the pickups, since I've been using the Bare Knuckle line I'm toying with the idea of changing them out.  What set would you suggest in an effort to upgrade an already good pickup set.  If you are familiar with the EJ's, what kind of tonal change can I expect.  I have been toying with the IT's or Slow Hands.  Would they be hotter than the EJ's.  I'm kind of new to this whole idea of pickup change and appreciate the input.

Aren't the pickups in the EJ specially designed for Eric? They sound thick and creamy, yet chimey to me.
The closest BKP-equivalent would be the Apache. The question is: what you don't like about them and, if you want to change them, what tone are you looking for? And yes, IT's and Slowhands are hotter and sound different.
