Title: BKP bridge pickup got too much bass
Post by: Dillinger on May 30, 2012, 04:04:18 PM
Hi ,
I have a BKP painkiller installed in my Heritage H-150 (les Paul type guitar , mahagony body and neck , flame maple top & rosewood fretboard) but it's really bassy and not tight and it doesn't feel like it should sound like that , I checked the wiring (2 vol 2 tone 3 way switch) , color code , resistance ( reads 17k although the site mentions 15k) the pots are all CTS 500K and caps are 22nf , I have also wired the humbucker directly to the jack and actually there's no diffrence with the low end , adjusting the humbuckers height doesn't seem to reduce the bass either.
I'm really confused now I don't know whether the humbucker is defected or just doesn't suit the guitar ( although I heard a lot that painkillers sound great with mahagony and les pauls) besides that I have no clue what can cause it.
Would like to hear your suggestions and opinions.

Thanks.

Have you called BKP direct and spoken to them about this? - if not, speaking to Tim and the guys should be your first move.
