Title: Covers on Slowhands?
Post by: GuitarIv on May 31, 2012, 01:47:40 PM
Hey guys, basically just a simple question: do the Bareknuckle Slowhands come with Singlecoil Covers or are they "nacked"? I've got Duesenberg Singlecoils (made by Rockinger) in my Strat and they have a nice silvercover which is half opened, I'd like to know if it's possible to put it on the Slowhands when I change PUs :)

Cheers

"nacked"?  :?

Anyway, they do come with covers, but they're easily removed.  I don't know whether the Duesenberg covers would fit, though.

Sorry, typo, should have been "naked" :P

Well, that's good news. Have an Ibanez INFS Single lying around, I'll just see if it fits under the covers. If it does I guess that should do the trick with Slowhands too :)

I guess I should've realised that!  But I just couldn't make sense of it.

One thing I'm wondering - even if the Duesenberg covers do fit, because they're metal you might get vibrations at certain frequencies which could cause feedback/squealing.  Might be worth getting them wax-potted to prevent this.  Or maybe I'm just being over-cautious.  :P

Might happen I guess, but I'm using the Singlecoils anyways just for clean stuff or for the lightly distorted blues sound :)
Is it possible to order the slowhands potted?

The coils are potted as standard, I believe - but before the covers are put on.

I don't think there's any need to pot a pickup in a plastic cover because it's not susceptible to microphonic feedback like a metal cover.

Well as said I'll try to put them into the Duesenberg Metalcovers.

Those here: http://www.rockinger.com/index.php?cat=WG093&lang=eng&product=DB11N%2FDB11M%2FDB11B&sid3=fd035e8275df5e1a94de4e639ff465fc

It's a cool look! :D

They look like standard-sized single-coils.  I reckon they should fit the BKPs, but who knows.  Good luck!

Thanks! ^^
As said, I will try out if the Ibanez Singlecoil fits the cover and compare the size to the Duesenberg Single. I'm really digging the look of the Covers, so I hope the Slowhands fit. I attached a pic :)

They look a good match for the Duesenberg humbucker.  :D
