Title: NPD: "passifying" my Luke
Post by: -M- on May 31, 2012, 10:00:00 PM
I've had the idea to put passive pickups in my MM Luke for quite some time now.
Not that there's anything wrong with the actives it came with, I just wanted something different  :D

Seeing as I was very happy with the set of VHII's I got for my PRS Standard, I decided on a VHII + Irish Tours for the Luke.
Ordered the pickups quite some time ago and began the waiting game  :P

So, after a loooong wait for my pickups to be cleared by norwegian customs (they've been holding them for like 2 weeks), they finally arrived today.
I wasted no time installing them into the guitar. Had to sort out a few ground issues, but I got it working :)

I'm super happy with the sounds I'm getting out of this guitar now! I'm feeling that I can cover a lot more ground tone-wise than I could before.

I do have one issue though: I got myself a push-push pot for the tone. I wanted to use this to split the bridge humbucker, but I just can't seem to make it work. I'm sure there's something wrong with the wiring, but I really don't know how to wire it. I tried following a bunch of schematics, but they are all for volumes :P
Probably a real easy fix though so if anyone has any ideas, feel free to give me a hint or two ;)

I'll just end this post with a few pics :D

Very nice guitar - I really like that burnt chrome look.

On the splitting - do you want the humbucker to be automatically split in the bridge/middle position only or do you want/need to be able to split the humbucker in the bridge position as well? It can be done both ways.

Cheers Stephan

Thanks man :)

Well, I want to hook it up to the push-push tone pot, so that I can split it on it's own.
At least that was the plan, but I'm not sure how to hook up the tone pot.
