Piledriver in an esquire style ash bodied, maple topped thinline?
I am currently building the body and have a piledriver.
How do you think the piledriver would handle it?

I think it will gonna be a beefy tele. The compared to the BG50 modern sounding Piledriver has quite some mids and if the topend is too much, just adjust the toneknob. That's how I work with my tele.

I've not tried a Piledriver, but it was on my "maybe" list when I was sorting out my teles a few years ago. In fact, I've still got my first tele (a MIK Squier with plywood body that I got very cheap second hand in the 90s and it did sound very good - a little bit like the few thinlines I tried a few years ago), it's in the loft in pieces, and there's a vague ongoing plan to "Esquire it" one day with a Piledriver.
I seem to remember reading on here (from Tim) that although it's regarded as "modern sounding" the Piledriver is in fact based on the original type of pickup that Fender put in the first Broadcasters - the kind of pickup that was being being used for lap-steels at the time - and that it was quite a serious beast.
Yep. I think it will give you a beefy tele capable of kicking some serious @rse but very sensitive to use of controls and varying pick attack.
To quote another user on here (Fernando, especially in regard to Piledrivers) - "DO IT!" (and he also says "Pics or it didn't happen").
If you've got one already, it sounds like you owe it to yourself to give it a try :D

What else could I say ?-)

Well, I do have about 3 tele builds in the works.
I wasn't sure if with it being so hot, it might not like the semi-hollow body. I guess I will give it a go.

I know what you mean. Instinctively, I'd go for low-output pickups in a Thinline, but I couldn't really justify why!
On the other hand, in an Esquire I'd be inclined to go for something relatively hot since it might be more versatile.
But as Andy said, if you've got one already you might as well try it.
I'll be interested to know how it turns out. I also have about 3 (or 4) Tele builds in the works (meaning: mostly in my head). One is a super-light Thinline, another may be an Esquire.... or I may go with a neck humbucker.

There's a volumeknob to back the guitar of a bit if everything is a tad too much.
