Title: Pickup Combo
Post by: Tricalibur on February 11, 2006, 09:30:47 PM
Im thinking about putting an EMG 85 humbucker between two warpigs on my epi SG. So my question is, can you mix an active p/u with passive ones?

^yes, but afaik, you need different valued pots etc. for each.

basically, you can do it, but it's more effort.

EDIT: and what mr pig said

You can but it is not avisable, active pickups use 25K pots, and have no ground, so you would need a seperate curcits for the passives and the actives, also you would have a volume imbalance because of the loads that each delivers to the amp. With actives and passives its best to choose one or the other, not both.
