Hello guys,
I am new here and this is my first post. I own a Musicman Albert Lee HH, which I love but am not too convinced about the pickups. The guitar has an all rosewood neck and a mahogany body, so it is a bit dark sounding. I play mostly hard rock and 80s/early 90s metal (VH, Bon Jovi, Maiden, Metallica,...) and feel that the stock pick ups are a bit too "civilized", so looking for something more metal but not over the top. Looking at specs and listening to clips, the VHII and Holy Diver look like a good option. Any recommendations? Thanks!!

HD and VHII would be my choices. I have a slight favourite for the HD these days.

Thanks Darren. Appreciated. From the clips the HD sounds like the way to go. Calibrated set or better to pair the HD with something else in the neck?

Rebel Yells

Rebel Yells would work in a mahogany guitar too.
The neck of choice for the hard rock sound seems to be the Cold Sweat.
I don't you will be disapointed with the HD or Rebel Yell bridge.

Agree with Rebel Yell set. Love mine in my LP Custom. Another good option would be Holydiver bridge with a Cold Sweat neck - works great in my PRS Custom. Both would make very balanced sets.
Cheers Stephan

All the options here should work nicely, but with mahagony and rosewood I vote for the RY set. It will delivar big time in those woods, bridge and neck alike, though the bridge especially kills.
You will have to tweak the height a lot though, the RYs are hypersensitive to that^^
