Holy schmoly - how many pedals!!!!????? :o
I'd love to give the red Marshall Major and matching 8x10 a go :D

Cheers Dave - will check this out later! I'm assuming that as the vid is 31 mins long there must be a lot to get through!!!
Frusciante had a massive amount of pedals on stage with him and he is good mates with Klinghoffer. Maybe I need more pedals myself!
-
Just watched the first 20 minutes. Had to stop and take a cold shower! That super six reverb looks insane! Really pleased that he wants to do it as old Sokol as possible though and give those remote switching units a wide berth.
-
Very nice video. I love RHCP. That gibson semi-hollow appears on the new video that they released yesterday.

31 minutes is too much for my YouTube attention span. Is it worth watching? Can anyone do a synopsis?

Too many pedals
Awesome Marshall Major and Fender Super 6
A couple of tasty old Strats and a relic pimp Telemaster
Job done :)

If you build it, I will come

:D yep, pretty much my thoughts. Watched the Flea rig rundown straight after (with the lovely Rebecca Dirks) and felt quite sorry for Klinghoffers tech. A handful of basses and 4 pedals into a straightforward bass amp, job done!

Thanks Dave.
I might try to f/fwd to the Telemaster....

The Telemaster (with matching headstock) is in the last 5 mins. Sadly (for the person who put it together anyway) the tech forgot the make/name. Think he said JMT and am wondering if h meant MJT. Surely not!
-
I watched the last 10 minutes, more interesting than I expected!
I think the Telemaster is an MJT, I like the matching headstock!

I noticed the double entendre as I posted. On this occasion it is most appropriate.

lmao, thats about what I got from skipping through it
Bet that Major head is brutal at the volume he's running it - 6/7 on the bright channel, OUCH!!!
-
I've worked on the Red Marshall Major.
The mains transformer has been changed and the HT is lower than stock, around 460 vs 670-700 VDC, so the power output is down quite a bit.
It's still v-v-v-v-ery loud though.
-
There is NO way there can't be that much signal loss.
-
And those Bright Onion devices are really cool. I'd like one of those!
-
There mus be quite a bit of tone loss although when I saw them last year (probably with a close variant of that rig) I must say that he did sound very good indeed! Lots of bright and crunchy stuff.

Just imagine the tonal goodness of that rig if he even took out half those pedals! I find it quite funny that most of the pedals on the board(s) are used pretty much only to make noise at the end of a song
-
Is it possible that one of those switching devices turn the signal to low(er) impedance in order to travel all those cables and pedals without so much signal loss?
I think I saw a MXR Micro Amp in there, which Frusciante also used to boost the signal. Their web-site states "It can also provide a permanent boost in a long effects chain where signal drop off is a problem."
-
I think JF used the micro amp to level out the differences in pickup output between guitars so he didn't need to mess around too much with other stuff. At least that's what I think!
I was also thinking the same thing about that Bright Onion box. Personally I think it is too complex a rig but guess that is the way he likes it - surely he can't use them all in one show!

When I saw them a few months ago, he was stationed at his board for a good portion of the show. It appeared like he was stomping on alot of pedals, but I'm not incredibly sure.
What I actually really like about this is that his tech said that no 2 songs are alike for him, so every show you go to you get a signature, unique tone/pedal combination from him.
-
With a rig of that size I reckon he could play the same song hundreds of times without any fear of having a setting that he had already used.
