I have a problem from my old SD's that have carried on into my Blackhawks. When I pick hard especially on the lower strings a ringing sound comes through and gets amplified. I think it's the springs that ring out. It's really annoying and I don't know how to fix it. Anyone ever hear of this or know how to fix it?

Pickup springs or tremolo springs?
If it's the pickup, you could try putting a bit of foam under the pickup to stop it vibrating, and/or replace the springs with surgical rubber tubing (as often used with single-coils).

Pickup springs. No trems for me. And thanks I'll try the foam for now.
-
Nope. Foam did nothing. Is it hard to acquire surgical tubing?
-
You can also use heatshrink tubing but its a pain to remove as I found earlier today.

Thanks! Will fix asap.

Can't promise it'll work, but it's worth a try! :)

What guitar? Sure it isn't the strings behind the bridge or something?
-
Sound is definitely coming from the pickup area. I've tried dampers everywhere else. And it's Schecter C-1 Artist III (Giant neck and all) with a neck through string through body.

Sounds strange, check this out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQuZKnD2dhw

That does sound a lot like what I'm experiencing. It just seems like the sounds comes from the pickups. I might have to make my own such clips haha.
