Not quite like anything fender ever released - but obviously its based on the duo-sonic/mustang/music-master kinda thing
i am actually really liking the 24" scale on this. I think being a strung through body hardtail bridge helps a lot with that
-
Je l'aime beaucoup mais.....why do guitars of this type always have yuck colours?
-
was really aiming for the 70's vibe on this - but the colour did cause me a few issues getting a shade i was actually happy with
its unintentionally ended up a bit like this:

very nice :)
-
Nice work as always!
Whenever I see it, I do like the idea of Tele saddles on a Strat-style hardtail bridge. I must try it sometime.
-
this was a squier duo-sonic bridge, modded for string through. the compensated tele saddles work perfectly on it

I like the look of this Glendale bridge. Pricey though...
-
yeah, this was a fraction of the price and works equally well, obviously it still has the option of using it as a toploader but i never even considered stringing it that way
the cut down tele bridge used on the recent stratele was also a reasonably cheap way to get that kind of thing without paying glendale prices
-
I quite like the colour :D!About the same as my first Strat....Well done !
-
I like everything about that. Very nice indeed.
-
Sweet guitar! I like the colour, very vintage indeed.
-
It looks very nice, what pickups did you put in it?

They look like Irish Tours to me, possibly with a baseplate on the bridge pickup
-
Irish tours with a baseplate on the bridge pickup, how did gwem guess that ;)
i am enjoying it, its a lot less flimsy feeling than the average fender offset. just a good solid workhorse - might do one for myself if i get around to it
it also has a phase switch which i dont like with these pickups, might make more sense as a tone preset switch or something like that.
i am hoping the next one i post finished in my current productive streak will be the double neck - should be able to get that buffed up in the next month or so ready for assembly. it is looking rather special
-
Very nice, I like that colour scheme on Fender styles :)
-
I had a 1970s Fender Music Master that was the same colour as that 8)
-
Nice one :D
Somehow this almost gets under the radar of my aversion to the "wonky fender" shapes!
That's probably cos of this:

I thought of that one the minute I saw your pics.

Nice job Wez. It looks really cool :D
-
i do like these even though not usually fender fan, who's this for

I think gwEm has given a big clue.

That would be great - still no rush on it, though I'm really interested to hear how it sounds. I know it looks amazing already!

yeah, its a kind of collection of ideas Wez and I had about Duo-Sonics. Obviously I had that dodgy 70s musicmaster a while back I had to return, but that set the wheels in motion for this. Was cool having a 24" scale on a stable guitar (not a Jaguar or Jagstag which I'd tried before). Theres features from all the different Duo Sonic models on this guitar - the best of the best if you like.
its all Wez's fine work of course, except for a few little parts I sent him, which included the wiring. Wez doesn't like the phase switch, and I believe him :) But I felt it was worth giving it a shot, considering they were on the duo sonic 2 of the late 60s. Perhaps it will be usable for a special effect or something.
can't wait to get my hands on it to tell you the truth. it looks fantastic in the pictures and wez tells me (except for the phase switch) it sounds as good as it looks. i'm working on a track at the moment where this would fit in really well.
it will be a couple more weeks until its in my hands though. kind of drooling at the prospect! i really like the other WezV items in my collection - a strat neck, a 70s strat and the firebird. plus he put together a steinberger from some parts I had, though i play that one less than the others though sadly.. pehaps i'll give it an outing tonight :)
-
the phase switch just seems to act more like a lo-fi switch on this - if anyone can make that work its you ;)
if i was keeping it i would swap it out for a tone preset like a c--ked wah or tone roll off, maybe even a blower switch
there are a few none duo-sonic features to suit gwem too. subtle stuff like the extra contours and control layout which is much more spaced out to bring the volume closer to the bridge than on any non-strat fender - but i think it really works well from an aesthetic point of view too and will allow gwem to do some pinky rolls with the volume, which i know he is fond of.
-
It's a bit difficult trying to imagine someone as tall as gwEm playing a dinky little guitar with a 24" scale. :P
-
its a lot bigger than a steinberger ;)
-
Godd point
-
maybe even a blower switch
Saucy!
What's one of those?
Paddy
-
just bypasses all the controls - some set it so it switches straight to bridge pickup with no controls too
bit pointless if you are an always on 10 kinda player, but useful if you actually use your tone control
-
If you play with knobs then a blower switch is useful. PDT_049 PDT_049

So I'm guessing it'd be pretty pointless for a guitar with independent pickup volumes?

Touch of Deja vu there Wez.....love the headstock logo :D
-
Its finally here :D
-
And it's just what I was hoping for. The 24" scale really works on it, everyone should try a duo-sonic.
