Hey guys.
So I just bought myself an 8 string but the stock pups are muddy as hell.
I have been looking into the Painkiller, as the blurb says its all about the djent. However even though I like the sound of the bridge. The neck seems a little top endy and shrill in both the clean and driven sounds.
After a bit of a look. The Alnico Warpig(n) seems to have the darker and smoother tone to it.
However, I am wondering how much of a difference I am gonna notice between the neck and bridge levels. As the painkiller bridge is 15.6k and the warpig neck is 17.4k. So if I run with this the the neck pup should technically be louder.
Any ideas?
Ps. Its a Schecter omen 8 (basswood body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard) playing into a Marshall JVM410h.

maybe you could go easier on the neck
maybe something like a bridge black dog on the neck would give you a somewhat similar midrangy dark voicing without the huge output
it's hotter and more compressed than the neck cold sweat, which is a common painkiller match, but won't be overkill like the warpig
the JVM is one of the most saturated amps in the market, so you won't miss gain

Cheers dude. Gain isn't really the issue. It's more the cut to the top end that makes it stand out for me.
Maybe running just the neck pup through the tone pot might help.
