So, I have a H/H strat that I fitted with a Fralin Twangmaster and it totally floored me for it's ability to give a humbucker routed neck that amazing sparkling and woody strat tone.
I now have another guitar, this time the neck is routed for a singlecoil. I am looking for a woody, sparkling, yet deep singlecoil pickup to replace the Kinman Impersonator '54 that's sitting there now. The Kinman sounds really good - and it's silent. It's just missing the airy top end, chime and woody overtones of the Fralin. It also has more of a "narrow" tone, whereas the Fralin sounds very wide.
I just ordered the '63 Veneer Board single (based upon research) for the neck slot and am hoping I made the right choice. Should I have gone with another? I don' think it's too late..
Best,
Frank
PS - I'm enjoying the Abraxas humbucker! It splits really well!

I don't have experience of that model but I think you will be happy based upon what I have read/heard.

The Mother's Milk, '59 slabboard and '63 veneer board sound very close to each other, with of course some minor differences. They all provide that early sixties woody and sparkling tone. So a good choiche, but the MM would have done great too.

Thanks, guys - the p'up is on its way already :). I'll do a review soon. I custom build my own amps, so it'll be going into a 40w amp with a similar voicing to a BF Super -
