Title: Building a speaker cab?

I was just looking at the prices of 1x12 speaker cabs and they are a total rip off, I was just wondering if anyone has built their own and if homemade ones sound totally cr@p in comparison to a pro built one?

Also if anyone knows anyone who makes/sells reasonabley priced cabs with celestial vintage 30s let me know please
