Judith Jones (aka mum) band, tracks called Rubicon.

Like? (I engineered, produced and all that stuff. I cant sing, in the least).

And a game of guess the amp! Blankplanks not allowed to play.

Sounds good, I'd want to say the JVM for the amp, but the blank plank prohibition makes me think otherwise

Sounds more British than American to me, but not too Marshally... Is it a Blackstar? BlankPlanks S1-100?

So the guessing game begins. What other online handles do you go by Mr. Gentleman?!
Also, I know what amp this is, and no, it's not my Blackstar :)

Also, may I add, that's the first time I've heard that song, and if anyone gets what amp this is, I'm gonna be mightily surprised

This is great!

Not sure why, because it doesn't really sound like it, but it makes me think of neo-folk like Circulus. Which I love. I guess it's your ma's voice and accent and just the vibe, rather than the tune as such. Anyway. Dig it.

Sounds Mesa-ish to me, like a dialed down Nickelback tone.

I dont think anyones getting closer than copperhead saying a high gain 6L6 type - its my powerball.

Ha! Good job. 6L6/5881 amps are much more versatile than some dedicated EL34 enthusiasts would think...

Just have to ignore your eyes and use your ears to dial in the tone you're looking for.  :D

Exactly. For this, out of the JVM, my pittbull CL100 (that most of the rest of the album was recorded with) and the guitarists homemade clean -> breakup low watter (which is on a few solos), the PB gave the best balance of saturation, beef and cut for the track. Screw what the nameplate or the naysayers say.

adding to that as well it's nice to hear something with a wide dynamic range that isn't over-mastered

Cheers dude :)

Edit: fwiw I think some masters benefit from overmastering. Sounding like the whole thing is trying to tear itself apart can be good.

Note; can be. Its a circumstantial call.
