This has gotten me into a little pickle
I was unsure if I wanted the Emerald or the Cold Sweat a few days ago, until I was convinced the Cold Sweat was the ticket. Thing is, I didn't even realise the VHII neck clip. After comparing the VHII and Cold Sweat, I found the VHII to sound so much more organic and expressive, whereas the Cold Sweat sounds lifeless. Now I've learnt not to take the clips literally as you can't really tell how a pickup feels from the way it sounds, but how do these 2 compare?

I think it would be hard to find a more organic and dynamic pickup than a VHII.

Are you talking neck or bridge pickups?

You really think more than a VHII?

Neck pickups.
As I said I was torn between the Emerald & Cold Sweat, but I am seriously considering the VHII now. Would it match with either the Holy Diver or Nailbomb bridge?

VHII neck and A-Bomb are a good combination. They fit together better than VHII neck and Holydiver bridge IMHO from a tonal color perspective - at least in the guitar I tried both combinations.
Right now I have the A-Bomb paired with the Crawler neck but that is not a combination I would recommend. They balance quite OK in terms of output and tone individually but the middle position became surprisingly indistinct.
So for me it would depend on the bridge pickup used:
Holydiver bridge: Cold Sweat neck definitely over VHII neck.
For A-Bomb: VHII neck over Cold Sweat neck.

How come you think the VHII would pair with the Nailbomb better and the Cold Sweat with the Holy Diver?

Personal experience - these two combinations sound good to me whereas VHII neck HD bridge was not bad but I did not like it as much.
