Title: BKP Riff Raff for modern metal?
Post by: Euthanasia on September 07, 2012, 05:25:56 PM
Hello,

I play modern metal (djent oriented) and really LOVE the Blackdog (bridge) + VHII (neck) comb I have on my Jackson Kelly (maple neckthrough, poplar wings, ebony board) for tuning it down to A.
Now i want to buy some new pikcups for my Framus Panthera Custom and was really conidering the Riffraff (bridge) + Mule (neck) configuration.

I really liked the Big organic and airy sound of the riffraff on the modern metal clip, but wish it would be a bit tighter/heavier on the lowest string.
I'm not sure if the right settings will fix it but Tim offered me the Emerald or even Rebel Yell instead, but the Emerald clip sounds like the guitar was more silent in the mix then on the Riffraff clip, and the Rebell Yell dont have a modern clip metal..
I'm too afraid they wont have that dynamic big and airy sound I like so mucb about the Riffraff

How would they be in comparison to the Riffraff? What do you think I should get? Would you get something else?

Thanks,
Itamar.

If you want something big and airy then the RR is ceryainly the best option. You could always get an EQ pedal to increase the bass. The rebels yell may work nicely, though... But it's fairly tighter.

Also...

Same-Name Buddies!!!

Ok... Sorry... :(

+1

RR will be your best bet, and like Itamar said, if you feel like you have too much of something or are lacking something, an EQ pedal does wonders.

I love that clip, and I'd love it more if the his we're there! Does a great job showing expressive andndynamicmpickups with an expressive and dynamic amp. Nothing better!

i would consider a neck riff raff on the neck position, and a neck cold sweat on the bridge position.

I may do just that on my other RG. The neck cold sweat seems very similar to the bridge riff raff, just a bit more modern sounding due to different wire gauge.
