Fell in love when I saw this one, and I gotta say, this is quite something special. Resonates like crazy, and I love the combination of the trem with Tele-Esque tones through the P90s.
Made a clip today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0s3vRUywJo
Here some pics:

Sounds great. I'm jealous, don't have a guitar with P90s.
-
Oh good lord, that's a fine looking guitar! :D

It smells even better than it looks :)

Thats a great guitar. I'm not gonna start about the headstock, but I would be nice if the armrest had been covered too. The finish is fab! And yeah, P90's, yummy.

It's what James Tyler does, he likes to make a statement. The head stock, the arm rest - have you seen his relicing which he calls "bacon"?
:x
-
mmm, I do like that-- I played a tele style Tyler with a V neck.... one day I will have one, it was just superb! Yours looks great, but personally I don't like the bare armrest-- love the headstock though :)

Tyler guitars are pure sex
Martin
-
ooo very nice :D I've only tried one tyler but I loved it.

Guess that quite sums it up :)

What a finish! Absolutely gorgeous! Love it. :D

My Mongoose had a big rounded "59" neck.... what's the neck shape on the BW90?

This one is "Slim '59" - basically the same with a little less meat around the shoulders. It reminds me of the Axis neck, but is a little bit more of everything than that one.

Sounds good - when I had an Axis Sport I really liked the neck, just wished it was about 1mm bigger in every direction!

Same for me with the Axis. Also the nut width was too narrow on the Axis for my sausage fingers.
But hey Philly, you have owned a piece of almost just about every guitar brand out there, ay?
-
Really like this guitar a lot. For the more outrageous finsihes work best with the Tyler headstock design. Very nice indeed.

+1, the finish is super cool.

Yep! I know it's his concept and I think Tylers are way cool, plus they sound great. Just the armrest distracts me from the amazing finish. But. at least someone who doesn't copy CS relics.

 Not really, but quite a few!
Gretsch and Rickenbacker are the obvious "classics" I've never considered buying.
Of the more mainstream brands, I've never had an Ibanez, Dean, Schecter, Jackson/Charvel, BC Rich....
Never had a Suhr or Tom Anderson either. :?
I've definitely had more than my fair share of Gibson, Fender, PRS and Hamer though!
-
Very nice indeed! But the multiple logos on the headstock sent my eyes funny.

Haha yes, now go and have a look at this one:

That headstock actually looks cool. I'm no fan of the normal Tyler headstocks. Congrats on the new guitar. I bet it plays and sounds smashing. I'll have a listen to the clip later today.
-
Wow! I really like this! Have fun!

I'm surprised this somewhat leftfield instrument seems to appeal to so many in here.
I expected head stock bashing, complaint about exaggerated prices, etc.
By the way I can't stop playing it. It's not playing itself at all, it's quite a nice level of fight you have to endure, but it gives back in spades what you put in.

since you mention it.. ;) I do find the prices exaggerated. But everything else about it is very cool. In fact all the Tylers that have arrived on the forum I've been impressed by. I can even see myself owning one.
-
I was staying out of this, adhering to the Maxim "if you have nothing nice to say..."
In my opinion, it's a f**king overpriced abomination of a guitar.
Balance is restored. :D

My Mongoose got a lot of headstock bashing (not literally, fortunately) . Maybe because the guitar resembled a Tele, perhaps it's more acceptable on a Strat type?
Don't know what this one cost you, but I don't think the Mongoose was that expensive really.

That Mongoose was a steal!
My Tyler was a bit more than that, but still cheaper than TFs PRS private stock stuff ;)
-
It's one of the few guitars I've sold without making a big loss!
I've seen a couple more Mongoose models for about the same price as mine, but they were plain black finishes with no binding or anything, nowhere near as nice.
-
Guess what??! I like it too :D
The arm-rest looks kinda cute - and it does go well with the finish in my eyes.
And I'm even not minding the headstock so much nowadays.
As to price... aww... who cares?
-
With both the headstock and the unfinished forearm contour, they're not features I would choose if I was designing a "dream guitar".
But since they're already there, I quite like them.

I would also not have ordered it like this, but when I saw it and read the specs - it had to be mine! :P
And when I grab it, it feels like it had always been there. Never had that experience before on a guitar.
-
Wow, flippin' awesome guitar ... just awesome!
-
great looking/sounding guitar. for the record i love the headstock design, it 'works', but the paintwork (too much) on them spoils it, a simple tyler logo would improve it.

that being said, if i ever did get one i'd probably get their bahama burst finish

Looks wise this is still the coolest, badassest Tyler I've ever seen:

I really like it, including the wacky scratchplate and pickup covers, but I'd like it better if the headstock matched the body.
(What are the Hipshot tuners like, by the way? I've always thought they look a bit odd.)

I don't like them looks wise, but they work amazingly well, easy to grab with bulky fingers, too. And the ooze quality. Totally open construction. And they are staggered. I'm sure they will last and hold tune a lifetime.
-
I like yours more!
-
What's the deal with Tyler's, are there standard models that they build? Or is it more like 'we fancy building this body shape with this kind of pickup config today'? Or can you get a proper custom order?

Well James has a few models, Classic, Studio HD, SE, Tylerbaster, Mongoose, Landau, ...
He is building for dealers, and sure you can ask special requests. He won't build anything, but I guess a lot of modifications and special demands can be catered to. Tylers aren't cheap, but they ooze quality, sound and play fantastic and hold their value very well.
