Ive had a BKP Custom Audio Taper 280K CTS standard shaft pot fitted for my volume control on my Fender Strat but the roll off is terrible, its so quiet untill you get to position 8 then its like all of a sudden the volume comes on, is this a faulty pot or is this normal for these pots? Please help!

Are you absolutely certain it's wired correctly?
I'd put a multimeter across it and check the resistance from the "input" tag to the centre tag, does it look like it's changing the way an audio taper pot should as you turn the knob?

I'd be tempted to say that it's either wired wrong or the pot itself is faulty or has been damaged when installing the pickups due to the heat.

on the BKP CTS pots there is a big jump between 8 and 10
Think Tim wanted this for quick rythym to lead changes using a single amp channel
It may help if you do a 50s wiring mod on the strat - there is a diagram out there somewhere - I saw it on Premier Guitar first.

It happened to me as well. I dislike the pots for these reason. If you want good pots, go to crazyparts.de, they provide pots with very close tolerances and the vintage audio taper as it should be. Alphas are also fine.

Cheerz fella, thanks for the tip!

Bourns Model 82 250KA
These seem 2 be one of the most highly regarded pots of the market from what I can see.
Anyone tried these?
