It's looking like after spending 2 years in Oxford, it'd be wise for me to take a job I've been offered (as its likely to open more doors than the current place, and I've already worked in that studio before, so it'll be like being back home!)
So I need to move to London, however I've never actually lived in 'London', having only lived on the outskirts of Croydon previously. I'll be working in the chiswick/ hammersmith area, and would like to try and cycle to work, but I want to live on my own... So, where are the places that would be good to live in, and those that aren't so good? My budget is £800/month excluding bills, which isn't going to get me the worlds swankiest pad, but I just don't know what areas to look at! I don't mind getting the tube, but the flat would have to be a little cheaper really.
Cheers!

Are you looking to flat share, or live alone. £800/month might not be enough for a one person place, but I don't know the Chiswick area at all. Round where I live in Dalston, it wouldn't be enough probably - those places are usually £900-£1k from what I've seen.
